What’s up everyone! Last week was an exciting week at Magic City Studio. We did a number of shoots that I will be posting on the blog soon.

Last week I called Nadia and Marcus Jai after waking up out of dream wanting to do a fall shoot. I didn’t give them any direction… I just knew I needed to shoot. So my sis and go-to MakeUp Artist, Nadia (@ArtisticDivaNB) put together a hot glam team; Model – Anna, Hair Stylist – MiMi (@mimi_luvshair), Wardrobe Stylist – Markus Jai (@styistmarcusjai) and the we did the do!

The shoot was the perfect stress reliever for me, because I had been going through a little creative block due to some unfortunate changes. I’m sure the style team was wondering what I was thinking the whole time during the shoot because I was pretty quiet. I wanted to let the guys know I was in, “AH” because everything flowed just like in my dream and it went so smoothly from the model up to the construction workers whistling at the ladies from the build roof top! Lol

NOH8 Testshoot

A few months ago, Karma came to me wanting to do a NOH8 Campaign shoot with the lovely Erin. We all got together and put an MCS twist on the project, like on we know how, lol. The shoot turned out so well it inspired me to start having mini side projects at Magic City Studio.

For those of you who really don’t know the background of the NOH8 Campaign, it is a silent protest photo project against California Proposition 8 (also shorten to Prop8, which is a same sext marriage ballot). The campaign features photographs portraying people in front of a white backdrop wearing white t-shirts, their mouths taped shut and “NOH8″ painted on their cheek.

When we got together a few weeks back and begun shooting, we “did the do” lol. They made my job pretty easy. The images come out hot and the ladies did a great job of speaking up (or keeping silent, lol) by portraying the very essence of NOH8.

1. Is this special open to anyone?

No, this special is specifically for GEMINI (those born within the dates of May 21st and June 20th); this special will not take the place of any current or future reserved booking.

2. Does this special include make up?

No, the $150 does not include makeup; however for an additional $75 you may include makeup for your shoot.

3. Does this special include groups or children?

No, this special is for individuals only.

4. Can I get more edits/prints?

Yes, you can always order more edits and/or prints even after your shoot. Extra edits are $10.

5. Can I reserve this special this month for a date next month?

No, we are a professional business like any other, our offers will not be extended.

6. Can I pay in cash when I show up for my shoot?

Yes, you can pay the remaining balance of your shoot in cash, card, or cashier check. No checks. You MUST pay your deposit in order for a reserved date for booking.

7. Can I bring someone with me to my shoot?

Yes, if for whatever reason you may feel uncomfortable or this is your first shoot, you may bring one person with you during your shoot. If you cannot find anyone, our assistant, Karma, can be available to you.

8. Can I book this special more than once?

Yes, you may book this special as many time as you want during the remainder of the special. Deposits will still be required for each booking.

9. When I will I get my proofing/edit(s)?

You will receive your link and password for your online gallery and proofing the same day as your shoot. You may look at your proofs at your leisure and let us know when you have decided on your edit(s).

10. What do I need to bring to my shoot?

Yourself, change of outfits for your two looks, any props desired, lashes if you want them, & lots of high energy!

11. I’m not a Gemini but I want to book an alter ego shoot, what can I do?

Simply, call or email Karma (information below) and we can get you set up for your own alter ego shoot.

Seagram’s Gin Women’s Model Search Competition 2013

Hey y’all, I’m just giving an update from this year Seagram’s Gin Women’s Model Search Competition 2013. I’ve been working with Seagram’s for 3yrs with this competition. Each year the competition gets bigger and more exciting. This year was hosted by Ebony Steele from the Rickey Smiley Show. The ladies from Alabama represented very well! Even the crowd showed major support with their excitement… noise makers… and signs for their friends or family members in the competition.

Congratulation to my country cousin, Ashley Smith, not to be confused with last year’s winner, for being selected to represent in this year’s calendar.

May is the time for Birmingham to represent, for the south to represent!! Birmingham, TN, GA, MS if you think that you have what it takes to be showcased in Stunnaz Magazine, then stand up!

Our very own Birmingham based photographer, Mykeon Smith of Magic City Studio, has be blessed with the opportunity to shoot a full spread of an upcoming Stunnaz Magazine issue [that's the ENTIRE set]!! On top of that, we have free range as to who we select to be in this issue.

Tyrese Concert

Hello everyone! Last Saturday, on March 23rd, we had the opportunity to shoot the one on one pictures for Tyrese, as well as a few concert shots (click here to view images). We had fun and were fortunate to be a small part on his tour. Enjoy! *Concert pictures to come soon*

When we first arrived we were met by the promoter, Eugene Luckett of Voltron Recordz, and he christened us with badges so we could go in and out as we pleased. I was dubbed: Artist & Mykeon: Security. WRONG!! LOL In the end Mykeon and I switched since I am his “security”, SOMEONE has to protect the big buff man, might as well be his assistant, right? =)

We later got locked INSIDE the BJCC, lol Seriously, stuck inside, gates locked, no patrolling security for about 15-20 minutes along with 4 other crew members from the show, including the promoter, lol. One thing I can say about working with Mykeon, there will always be some kind of experience!

Behind the Scenes

As you well know, we are prepping all around to get everything together for the launch of MCS website, and we decided one of the many good ways to do that was to show you a bit of us and who we are behind the scenes. Today was the team photoshoot between Mykeon & I. Let me tell you… We tried to act right, lol. We really, really did! We tried to sit prim and proper and look every bit of the professionals that we are but this man! Hilarious. I already tried to prepare myself going in; a mean seriously, a photographer shooting a photographer that used to be a former model with a model. LOL!! That’s too much right? Well not for us =) We laughed, laughed, laughed some more, got in a few serious pics, and then laughed more. I feel that if you can’t enjoy yourself then you shouldn’t take the pictures. A photo shoot is fun, energetic, soothing, so relax!! Enjoy the behind the scene pics!

This is my face more often than not when working with this man!!

Ummmm…stop! I am not getting paid for this!

Because he’s a thug! LOL
